History Of Indonesia
Indonesia is the largest set of islands in the world, having more than 13000 islands; it is located between Australia and Asia. The five popular islands of this Place are Sumatra, Bali, Papua and Kalimantan. Bali is the favorite destination for many tourists.
The national motto of Indonesia is "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" which means 'Unity in diversity'. This country has diverse culture and every year a great rush of foreign tourists is seen. Bahasa Indonesia is the national language of this country.
Indonesia, this name has the origin from two Greek words 'Indos' meaning Indian and 'Nesos' means islands. This island is very vast and magnificent and has approximately 17,508 islands contributed to it, out of which only 600 are populous. As stated above, this country has five major islands and thirty other small archipelagos. Java has more than seventy percent of the country's population.

The people and Indonesian islands when combined together make Indonesia the fourth most thickly populated country of the world. It is a democratic country which is further classified into 30 provinces and other territories. Indonesia is divided into four groups. Great Sundas comprises islands like Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Java and Bali. The Malaku has variety of islands between Sulawesi and Irian Jaya.
Indonesia includes a very rich collection of both wildlife and plants. Orangutan apes of Kalimantan and Sumatra are also very famous. Different types of endangered species are protected in the national parks and wildlife sanctuaries of Indonesia.
Giant plant 'Rafflesia arnoldi' is the largest flower in the world found in Bogor Botanical Gardens.
Indonesia is situated near the equator and therefore it has two climates instead of four. Usually Indonesian islands have their rainy season in the month of October but Malaku is an exception as the down pour starts here in March. The climate is not very extreme and both summers and winters are bearable unlike other parts of the world.
Because of its friendly climate the natural calamities like drought are less here. Sometimes in summers, light rain showers have also been experienced. The degree of temperature is always consistent but wet season is an exception as it sometimes rains on winter nights too.
History of Indonesia comprises many folklores and legendary stories. In the seventh century, the Sriwijaya kingdom expanded its roots all over Indonesia and the Borobudur century was built in the country that time. The Portuguese arrived at this place in 1509 for spices and condiments but later, by manipulations and deceit they invaded Indonesia.
Later on the Dutch forces took over and ruled this country for over three and fifty years.
Indonesians are very friendly and welcoming and its population is about two hundred and ten millions. Indonesia was free from the foreign rule in the year 1945. There are about 518 different types of language and dialects spoken here. As its motto, people here believe in living with harmony and unity.
